Jackson Hewitt Tax Service, Parsippany, NJ, 2004–2009
Senior Graphic Designer
Responsible for all creative concepts and design of marketing material for over 6,600 franchised and corporate-owned locations of the second-largest tax preparation company in the U.S.
  • Managed creative design and corporate identity standards as an integral part of a fast-paced marketing department.
  • Managed all print and direct mail vendor relationships including a $1MM print inventory of over 400 items, scheduled print runs and negotiated printing costs.
  • Oversaw the work of junior designers to ensure that quality and brand standards were being met.
  • Collaborated with Product Development and Operations department in order to develop, create and execute new creative and marketing plans for each fiscal year.
  • Designed and executed segmented direct mail campaigns (7.33MM pieces), brochures, postcards, advertisements, logos, posters, banners, billboards and local store marketing for all Jackson Hewitt franchises and corporate-owned locations.
  • Designed and executed web banners and splash pages for the corporate website, which receives an average of 1.6 million visits per year.
  • Designed material for sports marketing sponsorships with NASCAR and National Basketball Association (NBA). 

PETCO Animal Supplies, Inc., San Diego, CA, 2002–2004
Senior Graphic Designer
Responsible for the design and execution of all advertising and interior store signage for more than 850 PETCO stores in 49 states—the second-largest pet supply retailer in the U.S.
  • Directed product and live-animal photo shoots with extensive photo retouching.
  • Designed annual reports, logos and tradeshow collateral for pet supply vendors, store signage, direct mail campaigns, package design, postcards and flyers for all PETCO stores.
  • Designed and produced circulars, store signage, in-store posters and newspaper advertisements for newly-opened and/or remodeled stores across the U.S.
  • Designed web banners, email blasts and pop-up windows for the company’s website.

Random House / Golden Books Publishing, New York, NY, 2000–2001
Art Director, Retail Marketing
Responsible for all sales and promotional material for Golden Books, an imprint of the world's largest trade book publisher.
  • Managed the retail marketing art department with four direct reports.
  • Provided signage for strategic tradeshows, such as BookExpo, American Library Association (ALA), Bologna Book Fair Italy, as well as the design and layout of a 1,200 sq. foot suite for the International Toy Fair.
  • Managed all catalogs, sell sheets, coupons, web pages, point-of-purchase displays, event kits, banners, posters and advertisements for licensed and proprietary products, including Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Hasbro, Bob the Builder, Mattel, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and Frosty the Snowman.
  • Collaborated daily with online marketing manager to ensure web retailers received creative and effective web pages.
  • Collaborated with printers and company sales representatives to ensure projects stayed on budget and on time.

Thomson Financial / The Bond Buyer, New York, NY, 1998–2000
Art Director
Responsible for all design and execution of The Bond Buyer, a daily financial newspaper that reaches more
than 40,000 municipal finance professionals, bond issuers, government officials, and investors.

  • Managed art department with four direct reports.
  • Spearheaded a complete redesign of the newspaper.
  • Designed and produced full-color supplemental publications, including the company’s first on-site, full-color, broadsheet conference magazine.
  • Negotiated perpetual contracts and hired photographers for photo shoots nationwide.
  • Collaborated with IT department to create templates and style sheets to be used in new Y2K publishing software, compatible with Microsoft Word. Tested new software with IT department in beta-mode and trained my staff on the new system before going live.

U.S. Committee for UNICEF, New York, NY, 1997–1998
Senior Designer
Designed all material used by the committee to raise funds for UNICEF in the United States.
  • Designed and produced all printed fundraising collateral, such as quarterly publications for donators, invitations, video boxes for UNICEF spokesperson messages and holiday card brochures.
  • Collaborated with senior members of the communications department and IT team to ensure effective and creative corporate website layout and design.

Penguin Putnam Inc., New York, NY, 1995–1997

Designed and executed all promotional material for the children’s book division of the second-largest English-language trade book publisher in the world, which included award-winning authors.
  • Designed and produced promotional pieces for the children’s marketing department, which included catalogs, point-of-purchase displays, sell sheets, bookmarks, posters, educational programs, author bios and advertisements.
  • Coordinated daily with both the marketing and editorial departments to develop effective sales tools.
